O Prêmio Prometheus (Prometheus Award) é um prêmio para romances de ficção científica libertária dado anualmente pela Sociedade Futurista Libertária (Libertarian Futurist Society), que também publica o periódico quadrimestral, Prometheus. L. Neil Smith criou o prêmio em 1979, mas só foi dado regularmente após a fundação da Libertarian Futurist Society em 1982. A Sociedade criou o Prêmio Hall of Fame (para obras clássicas de ciência libertária, não apenas romances) em 1983.
Processo Livros publicados em um dado ano são elegíveis (embora livros dos últimos meses do ano anterior também são elegíveis se houver uma sensação de que foram negligenciados).
Todos os membros podem nominar livros para o prêmio. Membros do Comitê de Melhor Livro leem todos os livros nomeados (entre 12 e 16, normalmente) e votam para formar um conjunto por volta de 5 finalistas. Full members, Sponsors e Benefactors (os maiores níveis de associados) então votam nos finalistas.
O passo 2 ocorre nos primeiros meses do ano seguinte.
O passo 3 ocorre no começo do verão no hemisfério norte do ano seguinte.
Os prêmios foram historicamente entregues na Worldcon ou NASFiC (North American Science Fiction Convention) do ano. Desde a pandemia de 2019, os prêmios tem sido apresentados ao vivo via Zoom e então postados no YouTube e na página de vídeos do site da LFS (www.lfs.org).
