Professor emerit del New College de l'Universitat d'Oxford, es famós mondialament per sa contribucion a la vulgarizacion de la teoria de l'evolucion de Darwin. Se faguèt conéisser gràcias a sa publicacion en 1976 del libre The Selfish Gene, que popularizèt la teoria de l'evolucion centrada sus la genetica.
